Unique Patio Ideas
Spending time on our patios is one of our favourite parts of summer! Deb and Britt have both invested a lot of time into creating outdoor oasis spaces for their families to enjoy all summer long! This time, we are sharing our best patio tips and tricks to help you design the patio of your dreams with these quick and easy patio ideas. Take a look at some of their favourite features of their patios that may inspire you to get creative with your outdoor living space!
Do you enjoy dinning outdoors? With our short summers we take every opportunity we can to enjoy meals outside! Adding a unique patio table has been a large focal point for Britt and Deb! Rather than opting for the traditional glass top table think outside the box! A fun patio idea is to repurpose an old table, make it a reflection of your indoor dinning space!
Add a bench for easy seating for the kiddos! Metal chairs are also great for your patio as they can withstand the weather changes.

Britt has been looking for a way to incorporate a spot for afternoons on her patio for awhile! The traditional patio couches were not checking off any boxes. Finally coming up with a design she had a local carpenter help her make it!
Britt made the seating area the size of 2 dog beds and had custom linen covers made for them. Now, Britt's patio is covered so it is easier to leave things like linen outside. This patio couch has quickly become the families favourite hang out spot!
The design of the couch was taken from Britt's dinning room table. The couch arms have a similar cross at the base of her table legs. And the couch legs are tapered like the table on Britt's patio.
Tying in the different elements from the other spaces in Britt's home made this "New Build" couch fit in with the other antique pieces. An outdoor space always flows better when it is a representation of your indoor decor.

There is something about swinging and being suspended that can be so relaxing. Deb made a custom porch swing from vintage furniture that it the perfect morning coffee spot. Hung with thick rope its sturdy enough for the whole family!
Britt had 2 hammock chairs on her patio before the couch! They were so relaxing and the perfect hang out spot in the evening. The hammock chairs can be hung back up at any time, but Britt chose to change them out. Hammock chairs restricted conversation because they easily spin and the strings prevented being able to see others. We do not recommend single hammock chairs if you are looking to create a group setting.
Do you have a spot outdoors to wash up at? A fun patio idea for gardeners, whether it be veggies, garden feet, or simply washing hands after a meal. If you can keep some of the mess outside you will enjoy your patio so much more!
Deb installed a vintage galvanized tub sink that is perfect for washing up the veggies and prepping flowers!
If you don't have this ability simply grab a large bowl, Britt used a vintage enamel pot. She has had a smaller one on a wash stand, but recently added a massive enamel bowl for washing feet after working in the yard. Simply fill it with water at the start of the day and then the water warms throughout the day and feels good to wash up in!
Hang it up!
Inside out homes we never question hanging things on our walls, but we are often scarred to ruin our exterior siding (us too!!). Command hooks and sticky adhesive products can be your best friend! Britt loves using command hooks to hang up some of her favourite linens, aprons and garden hats! Sorry if you have stucco siding we are not sure if this would work for you.
Hang up a bath towel or blanket that makes it a pretty and practical item to have on your patio. You could also hang up a watering can, pair of scissors for snipping your flowers. Or you could even hang up a bunch of flowers like peonies to let them dry out!
No matter what space your patio is, make the most of it! If you enjoy lounging more then add a relaxing chair or hammock! If you would rather dine outdoors then set up a bistro table. Small spaces doesn't mean you can't enjoy them! We hope this sparked a few new patio ideas and we cant wait to see what you come up with!
