French Country Table

French Country Table

I have been wanting to change my dining room table for some time now. As much as I loved my old table, I wanted something a bit airier and with four legs! After searching and searching, with no luck at all, I finally came across one I already had! A little bit elbow grease and some basic carpentry skills and I came up with my dream table! Take a peek below at my new French country table!

The base for this table actually came from the attic of this house, I found it there and we used it the entire time we renovated as a place to put all of our odds and ends! After that we moved it down to the basement of this house and my son had set up his electric train on it.

I kept searching for the last year and a half or so for a simple table with four legs and some chippy paint, never coming across one that I really truly loved or when I did find one it was far too expensive and too large for the space!

One day, I was down the basement with my son and all of a sudden the thought came to me, what if I just spliced into this table and MADE the table that I wanted. I knew I could get the look of the table top by simply using some engineered hardwood floors, but I didn’t just want any flooring, I wanted something that was salvaged, reclaimed, something that looked aged for the look I was going for.

I was able to use some of the flooring that we patched the attic floor with which is just beautiful old floors that were salvage out of the house west of our little town. I had my dear carpenter friend help me out with this project as time was a constraint for my husband and I and I just wanted to get it done.

He simply spliced in the sides reinforce the base and placed the hardwood on top. Then I added paint to the section and gave a little bit of a fresh up to the rest of the legs and voilĂ  I have the perfect French country table.

I absolutely love how this little table turned out and I’m so glad that I chose to change out the old one. This table is just later in the room it’s self and give it a whole new look! Now just to find a few new pieces for the dining room and I will be a happy girl.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my French country table. Do any of you sometimes get that itch to change things up? Let me know in the comments below as I always love to hear from you.
