She Gave It a Go
Can you give a brief introduction of yourself, your home and work?
Hi, my name is Brendt and I am the founder of She Gave It A Go, a lifestyle brand formed in 2017 that focuses on faith, family, and farmhouse decor. A former Marriage and Family Therapist, I use my platform to encourage and empower others to "give it a go" in whatever endeavor they feel led. I am an active Instagrammer and blogger. Creating content and interacting with the She Gave It A Go community is what I love most about my job. I live in Birmingham, AL with my husband and four children.
What year was your home built and do you have any details of the history or building process you would like to share?
Our home was built in 2009. We did not build it, but fell in love with the exterior arches when we first drove up to the home and have loved living in it ever since
How do you define your decor style? What are your favourite types of decor?
My decor style is modern farmhouse. I love incorporating various textures (mixing metals, woods, natural fiber rugs, etc.) into my decor. Taking these textures and layering them is something I love because it offers a time worn, collected feel.
What is your favourite thing about your home? Do you have a favourite room or furniture piece?
My favorite part of our cozy home is our entryway. When you walk through our front door, it is an open concept living room connected to our dining room. These spaces have a lot of natural light and several of my favorite pieces in them. Layered rugs, shiplap walls, modern farmhouse style light fixtures, and photos of our children are a few of those favorites in these spaces.
Do you have any big future plans for your home? What is next for you or your home?
Yes! My husband is the DIY-er around our home and with me on my blog. We are always dreaming of new projects to tackle. The next (bigger) project on our list is adding a shiplap accent wall plus sliding barn doors to our kitchen.
If you had one design or decor tip, what would it be?
One small change can make a big impact! I am always encouraging my audience that replacing an outdated light fixture or painting a piece of furniture can instantly update a space. While renovating projects are rewarding, they are not a must to create spaces you love. One small change after another can lead to great results!
Do you have a business or social media tip you can give to all those who want to start a blog or home decor business?
Running a small business through my blog and social media platforms is so rewarding but is hard work. You will always be learning something new, and need to show up for your audience regularly. You will find that the community is an absolute joy, and that these practices will come naturally because of the people you interact with daily.
